Day 12 of Road Trip

Day 12

We are still here in Kansas City, Missouri. After a night of many frustrations with my iTunes and iPhone, I went to bed without any phone or internet service. :( After waking up and spending 1 1/2 hours trying to fix the phone/computer problem...I grew VERY frustrated! So thankfully Julia found an Apple store in Kansas City and off we went.

Views from around downtown Kansas City on our way to the Apple store.

I took everything in for them to figure out what was wrong. Long (and not very interesting) story short...I still do not have iTunes working (but who really cares right now anyway!), but the wonderful guy at Apple, Austin, fixed my phone!!! :) Happy Heather! Except that I lost all data on my phone. So send me your numbers!

Once we returned to our room we decided to go swimming since it's still hot here!
Getting ready for the pool

At the pool

We are relaxing for the next couple of hours until we head to the ball park.

Tonight we will see the Kansas City Royals game!! I am so excited because it is the only symetrical ballpark and it is going to be like heaven for me!! :)

Day 11 of Road Trip

Day 11

Welcome to a day that is 100% travel free and 100% baseball free! What are 2 girls in a town they know nothing about to do?? That's what we thought too! Especially when it's 90*+ outside. We slept in and relaxed around our hotel. Then we were off to a movie. We had talked about seeing "The Hangover" again, but since we both have seen it, we settled on "The Proposal." It was super cute and kept us out of the heat!!

Then we grabbed a bite at our non-fast food, but not too expensive restaurant! DENNY'S!!!

We are staying at the Best Western here in Independence. It is pretty nice.

Now that we've been out and filled our tummies, we may take naps, blog, or swim now...Who knows!

I chose to blog...Here I am!

Julia chose to veg out and watch t.v. Here she is!

Day 10 of Road Trip

Day 10

We begin our day in Arlington with the 8 1/2 hour journey to Kansas City, Missouri. We will drive North through the rest of Texas we haven't seen yet, straight through Oklahoma, then into Missouri. Not our longest trip, but a long one!

We hit the road, yet again!
This first thing we drive by is The Ballpark at Arlington (AKA My Disneyland!)

We think this is where the Dallas Cowboys used to play before their new stadium was just built!.

Heading to Kansas City through Dallas

More of those encouraging signs!
"Drive clean across Texas"

"Keep our land grand"

WELCOME TO OKLAHOMA!!!

The scenery hasn't changed much...

Me driving across Oklahoma!

More Oklahoma views...NOT much!

The speed limit signs are unique! We don't see the minimum very often!

It was $1.75 to drive straight Oklahoma!

You're welcome, Oklahoma!

WELCOME TO MISSOURI!

Kansas City signs! We are getting closer! :)

More water towers here, too!

Missouri has positive signs for drivers too!
"The difference is you drive smart."

We are SO close to Kansas City. Well actually we are staying in Independence, just next to Kansas City. The storm clouds are rolling in...

So close...

I'm not sure if you can see the rain on the windshield, but it got us!

Kansas City!! We made it!

Yay! We're here. Time to check in and relax for the night. 8 1/2 hours is a long time in the car! Tomorrow is another baseball free day.

Stadium #7 - The Ballpark at Arlington

San Diego Padres v. Texas Rangers

It is almost game time in my version of Disneyland!! Even though it is 100* outside, we sweat our way to the stadium. We found a hotel within walking distance, but because of the heat we drove. We pulled into the $12 parking lot only to discover that it is $5 Fridays! And Friday Fireworks!! Lucky us! :) Our views of the ballpark as we were driving towards it.

Because of the heat here, there is not much in the way of tailgating and partying in the parking lots prior to the game.

Also, there is not much outside of the ballpark. I also noticed that this ballpark does not have the name posted outside. So we just took our picture with the ballpark.

As we were walking around the ballpark (to see if the name was on the other side) this truck was driving around delivering water to parking attendants.

Views from the other end of the ballpark. It looks like the other side!

Me and My Disneyland!

Julia and I outside The Ballpark at Arlington

It's WAY too hot out here...We need to go inside! This is the nice man at the gates.

People are really friendly here in Arlington, Texas! They even take pictures of random girls in hats they are not going to buy! :)

Views from inside the ballpark
NOLAN RYAN!

Guess how many baseball and you can win seats behind home plate!

Views from center field looking towards homeplate!

The Rangers were warming up in right field and we were able to get super close to them!!

Walking around the ballpark

We are broke, so our seats are WAY up on the top!! The good thing about that is that we could see beautiful views from up here!

Along the top of the ballpark are baseballs (they even light up at night!)

View of the top deck

Six Flags!

Right field

All the seats look somewhat empty now, but that's because we got there really early! They filled up! Attendance was 33,000ish!
The scoreboards

We already know it's hot here...You can see it in people's faces and you can feel it, but even though the ballpark let's us know as well.

The Dugouts

This was on the ends of all the seats. They are very Texan here!

Since we were there so early we had the chance to walk around and see more of the ballpark

Waiting (and sweating) for the game to start!

National Anthem sung by the US Army Chorus

The Texas Rangers have a cool game that you can play. It's called Hooter's WINGO. It is similar to BINGO, but you mark your squares based on the game. For example, if the Rangers hit a double, you mark 2B. If you get 5 in a row you win! I didn't win :(

This guy is Santa! He passes out candy to kids around his section.

Before and after the game you can go to Section 10 and be on TV! We didn't know about it until too late, otherwise I would have been there!! :)

Nacho break at sunset!

This is a cool advertisement. Whenever the Rangers get a hit the 'H' lights up. Whenever the other team makes an error the 'E' lights up. And when the Rangers WIN, the 'W' lights up!!

There is a patch of grass out in Center field. The guy next to us said that they mow things into it. If you look closely you can see the 'T' for Texas.

I told you it filled up!

And it's another home team win!!!
San Diego Padres - 2
Texas Rangers - 12

The Rangers celebrating!

Even with in the night, it is still HOT! HOT! HOT!

Cleaning the field after the game!

Being on the top deck has it's advantages! This is a view of the moon, the new Cowboy stadium, and one of the light up baseballs!

View of my Disneyland at night with the lights on! Ahh!

Friday night Fireworks at the Ballpark at Arlington!

Another great game!! We continue to have great luck in seeing the home team win. We knew the Rangers would...they were playing the Padres! ;)

Tomorrow is an off day! No baseball! We are just hanging out in Kansas City until the Royals game on Monday!

Stay tuned!
