Stadium #8 Kauffman Stadium

Stadium #8 Kauffman Stadium
June 29, 2009
Minnesota Twins v. Kansas City Royals

I am excited to see this stadium because I have heard about it's symmetricalness (that's my own word!). And this just excites me. Here are some views from the freeway as we arrive at the field.

Next door to Kauffman Stadium is where the Kansas City Chiefs play football. Here's a quick glimpse as we arrive at the baseball stadium.

After parking and walking in, we observed that tail-gating is the way to go before a game! There were lots of people out and BBQing.

Kauffman Stadium was renovated and now the signs introduce the stadium and "the new K."

Like most stadiums we've been too, there were banners flying from light posts and emblems on the garbage cans.

Once we entered the stadium we did not have a view of the field, so we took a stroll around the stadium to see what they had. We found the Hall of Fame, but as luck would have it, it does not open until July of 2009. We also discovered the kids area with a merry-go-round, a "liberty of Kansas City", statues of Hall of Fame players, and the mascot, Sluggerrr.

Hall of Fame Player - Frank White Jr., second base 1973-1990

Hall of Fame Manager Dick Howser 1981-1987

Hall of Fame Player George Howard Brett, 3rd base 1973-1993

SLUGGERRR!

Then we got to see the field! It is beautiful and very large!!

In center field they have waterfalls and a water show throughout the game, as well as when the Royals get a homerun. We also discovered that they light up at night!

This is a view of the scoreboard. I really like the "royal"ness of it! :)

The Royals scoreboard has a lot of information, but for me it is too busy and too much information in one place.

Every stadium has it's own games to play and things they do to get the fans excited! Here in Kansas City they like to play the Hot Dog Derby!

Ketchup Won!

They also had the John Deer tractor Mow 'em Down race

We went to an exciting game! This is the Minnesota Twins manager arguing a call.

This is blurry, but this is when he gets ejected!

Celebration and fireworks for a homerun!

If the Royals steal a base in the game, your ticket is good for a drink at Sonic. Of course there are time limitations and you have to go in Kansas City, but I really like this idea! =) Tonight the Royals stole a base..we get our Sonic drink!

Celebration of another home team win!!
Final score:
Minnesota Twins - 2
Kansas City Royals - 4

Night views outside the stadium

This was a neat field to see, although the symmetricalness was nice on the field. I enjoyed coming to this field, but am not rushing back again soon.

We are off to St. Louis tomorrow! And that should be a great game because they are playing the Giants!! See you soon!
