Yesterday, Julia and I had quite the adventure beginning our awesome road trip. We arrived at the car rental place early in hopes of getting on the road quickly. But, unfortunately we were not able to get our car until noon. So we went to the grocery store to buy snacks and drinks for the road. We also grabbed some lunch before heading back to get our car.
Once we were back at the rental we upgraded our car to an Chevy Impala. As we were walking out to the car.. we see it backing out with an older couple inside. Julia shouts out, "That's our car old man! There's an old man stealing our car!" hee hee Long story short, Avis rented the same car to both of us. So we got out real car and were ready to hit the road!
Once on the road, we were so excited and eager to get to LA, we were not paying attention to where we were going. So, instead of taking the 152 to the 5, we kept going down 101 to LA. About Salinas, we looked at the directions (probably a little too late!) and discovered we were not going in the intended direction. So, we were adding an extra 1-2 hours onto our trip. Next, we decided just to go down the 101 to LA. But, multiple people did not like this idea for us, my friend, Kevin, who was meeting us in LA, found an alternative route. We ended up taking the 46E to the 5 and found our way through acres and acres of NOTHING!!!
Finally, we made it to the 5 and we fought the wonderful LA traffic to Julia's cousin's house. We then got ready to head over to Dodger Stadium. We had a blast at the game (see next post for details!) Thank you Catherine for letting us stay at your place for the night. =)
Tonight we are heading to Anaheim for an Angels game. Check back tomorrow for an update!
Heather! This is SO COOL!! I am so excited for you. I wish I could join you on a leg of your trip...maybe the last 8 some day???
