We had a blast in SD, but it was time to move on. So after a lazy morning, Julia and I left Kevin's house and hit the road towards Phoenix, Arizona. We went out the the 8 East.
About 30 minutes out of SD, we got a flat tire. I pulled over by a call box so that the tow truck guy could find us quickly.
It was difficult for them to find us, due to the fact that we had NO idea where we were. Luckily, a CHP (whom was VERY nice) stopped by to check on us. He was impressed to hear about our journeys and called in to get a tow truck for us.
He waited with us for awhile, at least until he sped away to get a speeder!
So, Julia and I waited in the car...for a total of about an hour and 20 minutes, until the tow truck driver finally got there. It was getting hot and we were bored so here's the pictures that kept me busy!

The road we wish we were going on!
Finally, the tow truck driver came!! YAY!!
We took out the spare from the truck, and as our luck would have it, we had the little donut one. Of course we did!
He took of the flat and was disgusted that a rent a car company would send us (or anyone) out in a car with a tire that bad.
Here is the flat we had...notice how bald and bad the tire is!
We asked about the other tires and 2 of them were just as bad.. =( So our best bet was to head back to San Diego to the Nameless rent a car place at the SD Airport and get a new car. So we did, but we could only go 50 MPH with the spare...Big rigs were passing us!
After getting a new car in SD, we were back on the road. We were about 5 hours behind schedule now, but our new car "Red Runner" is 100% better!! =)
Here she is!
The drive from San Diego to Phoenix was about 5 hours and very boring!! There isn't too much to look at, other than rock mountains, flat lands, and trees!
On our way, we were driving along the border into Mexico. These are the fences.
We finally made it to Arizona!!! =)
We also stopped at border patrol 2 times. The just asked where we were going and the dog sniffed our car before we were on our way again.
Then unfortunately, it got dark and I couldn't take anymore pictures. =( We also learned that the state of Arizona is VERY strict about enforcing the speed limits! So drove the limit and made it safely to Julia's aunt Sophie's house.
Whew!!! What a day! Tomorrow is the Diamondbacks game!
This was a long day too! due to the tire blow out. but we made it to Arizona safely with 'red runner'
