Stadium #12 - Coors Field

Stadium #12 Coors Field
July 4, 2009
Arizona Diamondbacks V. Colorado Rockies

Coors Field was just down the street from our hotel so we decided to walk it. But then we found out there was a free mall shuttle that went up and down the shops area, so we decided to wait and take that to make our walk less. As we were walking to the bus it became overcast, but we weren't worried because we had sweatshirts. But as we rode the bus it started sprinkling, then turned into rain, and finally it was just a downpour! This is us after we got off the bus and were beginning the rest of the walk in the rain.

Running to Coors Field in the pouring rain!

We finally made it to Coors Field!

Because it was raining so much (and we were soaked to the bones by now) we didn't get to explore outside or our picture together outside, but I did get one with me.

All-Stars and Events for the Colorado Rockies on the walls just inside the home plate entrance.

When we walked in there was people everywhere!! They didn't want to go to their seats yet because of the rain!! Here's a view of the field and scoreboard.

A picture of us and the tarp covered field! Then we were on our way to the team store so I could get my pin and a poncho!

The traditional home team hat picture!

This time we have a purple Colorado Rockies rain poncho picture too!

Views of the water logged field!

My garbage can picture!

The game is in rain delay!!!

A view of the field during the rain delay.

I don't know if you can see it in the picture or not, but Coors Field marks one mile high with a single row of purple seats.

Views just beyond the field

Julia and I still waiting for the rain to go away and the game to get started!

THE RAIN HAS STOPPED!!! I took enough pictures of the field crew uncovering the field to make a small video! :) Here are just a few..

The field is ready!!! PLAY BALL!!

Celebrating the 4th of July!

A Fly over

Let the game finally begin!!1

The scoreboard. I like this one because it is clean looking and easy to read. Plus it has just the right amount of information.

The boys in their dugouts

The mascot. He never came any closer than this...it's not the best picture.

The seats we had at Coors Field allowed us to see some beautiful views and the sunset.

Colorado has some very spirited fans!! They are often encouraged to get loud and cheer...and they do!! ;) They also have the "if the team scores X amount of runs the fans get something free" in the Rockies case...They need to score 7 runs if they do, fans can get 4 tacos for $1 with the purchase of a drink.

We were SO cold because of the rain that drenched us earlier! We stayed bundled up in blankets the whole game!

We went to a great game! There was a lot of hitting and scoring, but unfortunately the Rockies didn't score enough.

The final
Arizona Diamondbacks - 11
Colorado Rockies - 7

Here are the D'backs celebrating their win!

Since it is the 4th of July we also get to see fireworks!

Some fans in the bleachers were unable to see the fireworks so the Rockies moved them to the outfield grass. I WAS SO JEALOUS!!! Next time I'm getting bleacher seats so I can sit in the outfield!!

LUCKY FANS!!

The empty bleachers

Let the fireworks begin!

I tried to get a few pictures outside the stadium after the game, but still wrapped in my blanket my main focus was getting back to the hotel!

  1. Aside from being wet and cold from the rain at the game it was a great way to spend 4th of July.

  2. Hey Heather and Julia -- it's Mark again (the guy in St Louis). It looks like you are just about done with the first part of your adventure. I am on an adventure of my own -- I am in Japan and will be going to a Japanese baseball game on Sunday afternoon, which will be midnight on Saturday for you. I am pretty excited about it. I hear that the Japanese baseball fans are very loud and energetic and do cheers like our football fans do. We'll find out firsthand!
